Requirements and install

Advanced Product Filters installs like every other extension sold here. Follow the shared procedure rather than an Advanced Product Filters-specific one:

The OpenCart releases it runs on

OpenCart 4.0.2.0 is the floor. On an older store the install is refused and writes nothing: no tables, no settings, no placements and no events, so the storefront is untouched. The refusal is a line in kyvero.log, which System → Maintenance → Error Logs shows beside OpenCart's own log.

4.0.2.0 and 4.1.0.3 are the releases a full install-to-uninstall pass has been through, and they are the only ones claimed. Another release in between may well work; it has not been tried.

On 4.1.0.4 the nightly rebuild does not run, because that release's own scheduler cannot start. Press Rebuild on the Facets tab after a bulk import instead; see limits.

What else it works with

  • Product Search 1.5.0 or later (free) for facets on search results. Without it the search page has no panel. See limits.
  • B2B Pricing 1.1.0 or later, on OpenCart 4.1, for a price range that bounds each buyer's list price. See limits.

Neither is required, and neither has to be installed first.

The permission

extension/product_filters/module/product_filters

Tick it under both Access Permission and Modify Permission, at step 3 of the shared procedure, for every user group that should configure the panel. Access opens the settings screen; Modify saves it and presses Rebuild.

Enabling it also grants two screens to the user group that enabled it, because every Kyvero extension ships them and nothing else in the store grants them:

  • Personal Data, under Customers, at extension/product_filters/customer/personal_data, under Access Permission. Advanced Product Filters' answer there is nothing, stated on the screen rather than left out.
  • Remove everything held about a person, at extension/product_filters/customer/purge, under both Access and Modify.

See what this holds about a person.

What enabling it does

In one press of Install on Extensions → Extensions → Modules:

  1. Creates four tables, named here without your table prefix: product_filters_index (which product carries which facet value), product_filters_text (the attribute texts, one row each), product_filters_facet (the Facets list) and product_filters_memory (its own copy of your settings, placements and cron schedule, which is what an update puts back).
  2. Writes Status off for the default store. Nothing on the storefront changes yet.
  3. Places the panel in Column Left and Content Top of every layout the category, brand, search and specials pages use, on every store. On stock data that is six placements: Category, Search and Default, two each.
  4. Adds one job to Extensions → Cron Jobs, Advanced Product Filters: rebuilds the facet index, run daily.
  5. Builds the facet index from your catalogue. On a large catalogue this is the part of the press that takes time.

Then open the module's Edit screen, switch Status on and save. That is when shoppers first see the panel.

What an update keeps

An update keeps your settings, your placements as they stood, the Facets list and the cron job's schedule. The index is rebuilt. See what an update keeps.

What uninstalling leaves

Uninstalling removes the settings, every event row and the cron job, and leaves the four tables. That is deliberate: an update is an uninstall followed by an install, and the extension is never told which of the two it is in. See limits.
