Reference

The lists below are written from the extension's own code by oce docs:reference, so they cannot drift away from what the version you installed does.

What the lists do not say

The settings page gives the keys, not where they sit on the screen. On Profitability → Settings: General holds the status, the API switch and detailed logging; Costs the default margin; Orders the counted order statuses; Fees the payment and fulfilment rules; Returns the counted return statuses and which reasons come back saleable; Maintenance the back-fill and recalculation.

The permissions are not a setting. Each screen carries its own, listed on requirements and install.

The cost book file has three columns, product_id, model and cost, in that order, in both directions. Its rules are under the cost book file.

The two CSV exports are one file shape, for the period and store you were looking at, and every row carries its cost basis. Product profit exports the level you drilled to: products, one product's orders, one order's lines, or every order. The last column, charges, is filled on the list of every order only, where it carries the shipping and order charges that order's profit includes; it is last so that a spreadsheet built on the other columns keeps their positions. The dashboard exports its products, not the profit-and-loss rows, so shipping and order charges, Unclassified and expenses are not in that file: they belong to no product.

The margin and markup under the cost field are a readout, not a setting. Margin is the price less the cost, over the price; markup is the same over the cost; both to one decimal place, as on Product profit. They are worked out from the Price field alone and are absent where the cost field is absent: for a user without the cost permission, while either box is empty or not a figure, or while the price is 0. A cost of 0 shows a margin and a dash for markup. At or below cost the line turns red, and the product still saves at the price you typed: why that is not settable.
